Henderson Mill Elementary School is Georgia’s first STEAM-certified elementary school, offering science, technology, engineering, arts and math learning to every student, integrated into the curriculum. Our Title I school has a dedicated STEAM teacher who works with every class so every child at HMES benefits from this model of learning.

Our smaller-sized school is ideal for project-based learning and close-knit relationships among staff and students. It also ensures that children who may need additional help don’t slip through the cracks. Every child is seen at HMES.

Henderson Mill Elementary opened in 1965 as Henderson Mill School and is deeply connected to the community. Families, teachers and students have built a strong, supporting environment that extends far beyond the classroom.
Closing Henderson Mill Elementary risks eliminating the programs, partnerships and hands-on, intimate learning environment that can’t simply be replicated elsewhere.
